    Posterior Pituitary Injection

Posterior Pituitary is an all-natural product prepared by the extraction from pig pituitary gland.

    [Description]

This product is a colorless transparent or almost transparent liquid.

    [Function and use]

This product contains oxytocin and pitressin. Oxytocin can excite uteruses selectively and strengthen the contraction of uterine smooth muscles. Its effect of exciting uterine smooth muscles varies according to the doses and hormone levels in vivo. A small dose of this product can enhance rhythmic contractions of uterine muscles with uniform contraction and relaxation during the late pregnancy; large doses of the product will cause tetanic contraction of uterine smooth muscles and press the blood vessels in myometrium to exert hemostatic effects. In addition, oxytocin can promote the contraction of myoepithelial  cells around the mammary acini and mammary ducts, facilitating the ejection of milk. Pitressin has the effect of antidiuresis and elevating blood pressure. It is mainly applied in:

    1. Postpartum disorder of milk ejection, mammary swelling, and promoting lactation for newly delivered female animals lack of milk; milk can be ejected 1-4 hours after injection.

    2. Hastening parturition and odinopoeia.

    3. Hemostasis for cows’ massive hemorrhage.

    4. Postpartum uterine bleeding and retained fetal membranes.

    [Usage and Dosage]

    1. Postpartum disorder of milk ejection, mammary swelling, and promoting lactation for newly delivered female animals lack of milk: a single dose for intramuscular injection: 20-40 units for mature horses and cattle, once a day for 3 consecutive days; 10-20 units for mature sheep and pigs, once a day for 3 consecutive days; 5-10 units for dogs, cats, foxes, racoon-dogs and minks, once a day for 3 consecutive days.

    2. Hastening parturition and odinopoeia: a single dose for subcutaneous injection or intramuscular injection: 30-100 units for horses and cattle; 10-50 units for sheep and pigs; 2-10 units for dogs; 2-5 units for cats.

    3. Hemostasis for cows’ massive hemorrhage: intravenous injection; 100-150 units for a single dose (added to 500ml of glucose or sodium chloride injection).

    4. Postpartum uterine bleeding and retained fetal membranes: a single dose for subcutaneous injection or intramuscular injection: 30-100 units for horses and cattle; 10-50 units for sheep and pigs; 2-10 units for dogs; 2-5 units for cats.
